About
The Start
I discovered pottery in early 2022 and quickly knew it was something I would be doing for a long time. As a software engineer, I found pottery to be a refreshing change of pace that allowed me to get my hands dirty and create something tangible. It was also a way for me to express myself and share my work with others.
Alignment
But more than that initial satisfaction, the nature of the work requires a certain level of presence, patience, and acceptance. When I am in a centered and sober state of mind, I am able to produce my best work. On the other hand, when I am angry or emotionally off center, it is nearly impossible for me to create anything of quality. That is the gift of practicing pottery to me, a way of working on the outside that aligns the way I want to work on the inside.
Purpose
The result of this process is a man I am proud of, a life I enjoy, and a tangible object that can be of use to myself or my community. Which is ultimately the way I want to spend my life, creating value for my family and my community.
The Family
I live outside of Nashville, TN in a town called Goodlettsville. Iām married to Molly Buckley who is an amazing photographer. You can see her work at https://mollybuckley.work. Together we have a daughter named Rose and two wild dogs, Winnie and Murphy.
